About Rabbi Rob

Meet the Rabbi

Rabbi Rob is a long time member of the Jewish Community of Kauai, and received Smicha (Rabbinical Ordination) in 2019, from the Rabbinical Seminary International located in New York City. He was taught in the Kabbalistic way of Rabbi Joseph H. Gelberman zt”l and a gifted faculty that included his beloved mentor and friend, Rabbi Bill Kurry zt”l.

Rabbi Rob’s teachings also align with Martin Buber and Abraham Joshua Heschel. He considers himself a liberal rabbi with an interfaith background and philosophy. Rabbi Rob is available to officiate at life cycle events.

In addition to his rabbinical ordination, Rabbi Rob has a Masters in Education from Western Washington University, a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Martin’s University, and was a college admission director for over 20 years on the mainland. He has lived on Kauai for the past 20 years with his husband, Jeff, and their pet mule. They own two businesses on the island including the popular travel website, Beat of Hawaii.
